Holding Rabbits
We wish it were not necessary to have these policies on holding
rabbits, but we have had too many people back out, costing me time,
feed, cage space, hassle, and sales.
We will hold rabbits for a 50% NON-REFUNDABLE deposit. If we choose
to terminate the sale, they buyer will receive the deposit back.
However, if the buyer chooses to terminate the sale, we will keep
the deposit. In certain cases, we will refund a deposit so long
as we resell the rabbits, but this is my option.
We will hold the rabbit for one week without a deposit. After one
week, the buyer must have the deposit to us. If it is not to us
in one week's time, the rabbit will again be available for others
to purchase.
We will hold a rabbit for up to two months with a deposit, unless
we specifically agree on a longer amount of time. After two months
time, or the agreed upon amount of time, we will require an extra
$5 for each two months that we hold the rabbit to cover the cost
of feed and cage litter. Some leeway will be given to rabbits being
shipped in the winter, as the airlines will only ship under certain
weather conditions.
The buyer MUST remain in contact with us in order for us to continue
holding a rabbit for them. If we are not contacted at least once
every two weeks, either by telephone, email, or snail mail, we will
assume that the buyer no longer wishes to purchase the rabbits and
all deposits will be null. If the buyer is going to be away longer
than that and cannot keep in contact, they must let us know.
Full payment of the rabbit, as well as payment for any charges
for holding a rabbit past two months, before the buyer will receive
the rabbit.
An online copy of the pedigree will be available before purchase
or deposit for the buyer to evaluate. The hard copy will be given
to the buyer upon the receipt of full payment.
Should something happen to the rabbit that the buyer has a deposit
on, we will offer a replacement or a refund of the deposit (If more
than one rabbit is being held, only the deposit for the particular
rabbit will be refunded, not the entire deposit), buyer's choice.
Shipping Rabbits
We will ship rabbits. Buyer pays for all shipping costs including,
but not limited to: airline fees, health certificate, shipping crate,
and feed/water containers to be used during shipping. We will provide
enough feed for the duration of shipping. All payments must be received
before the rabbit is shipped. Please note that total shipping costs
(not including the rabbit) often run around $150 to $250.
Payments
We accept personal checks, cash, money orders, and Paypal. Pedigrees
may be held until a personal check clears.
Pedigrees, Registration Papers, Legs, etc.
All show and breeding quality rabbits come with full, three generation
pedigrees unless otherwise noted. Pet rabbits do not come with pedigrees,
but, upon request, do come with Birth Certificates which show age,
name, gender, variety, breed, and the parent's information.
If the rabbit to be sold is registered, the buyer gets the registration
papers, signed by either myself or my husband, depending on which
of us is the actual owner.
If the rabbit has won any legs or flat ribbons, the buyer gets
those. Also, comment cards, or a photocopy of the comment cards,
are generally provided to the buyer.
Taking Rabbits Back
If the buyer can no longer keep any rabbit that we sold them, we
will take it back and find it a good home. We will not, however,
buy the rabbit back at either full or part of the original purchase
price. If the buyer returns the rabbit, we ask that they also return
the pedigree, registration papers (if applicable), legs (if applicable),
and comment cards (if applicable). All awards (ribbons, rosettes,
trophies, etc.) may be kept.
Please refer to our warranty page for taking rabbits back that
are covered under our warranty. All sales are final. No purchases,
rabbits or equipment, will be refunded or replaced except as defined
in ou warranty.
Letting Others Use Our Bucks for Stud
We only loan out bucks for stud to breeders that we know, and whose
stock we know. Even with those breeders, we always check the doe
thouroughly for any signs of disease, and the owner of the doe should
do the same to my buck. I am not responsible for checking the buck,
though we always do, and if the breeder's doe contracts an illness,
it is not my responsibility. It is the responsibility of the breeder
to fully check my buck. We charge $35 to $45 for a stud fee, depending
on the buck, or pick of litter, your choice. Money back or free
rebreeding if no litter results. The doe's owner does not get the
pedigree until a live litter is born. If only one baby is born,
and the agreement was for pick of litter, the doe's owner gets the
choice to let us take the baby or to pay the stud fee instead. The
doe's owner gets a free rebreeding if the entire litter is lost
due to reasons beyond the doe's owner's control (i.e. peanuts, max
factor kits, etc.) within one week of the litter's birth.
Kits that we take as the fee for stud service by my buck will have
our rabbitry prefix at the front of the names. Kits sired by our
buck that the doe owner keeps may have the rabbitry prefix of the
doe's owner at the front of the names.
Price Changes
Prices on rabbits that are not being held are subject to change.
Once a rabbit is held, the set price will remain constant unless
the buyer does not get the rabbit. Also, once a price is quoted
to a potential buyer, the price will remain constant for two weeks.
After that time, we may change the price.
Discounts
Due to abuse of our discount system, youth discounts are no longer
offered.
